Why I'm writing this, even if no one reads it
2025-04-24
I've tried to start blogs in the past. They didn't go anywhere. It's incredibly difficult to write, especially about yourself. Before I started working on this one, I studied more closely the blogs I've been reading for years. What is it that they write about? What's their tone? What is their goal? I didn't really get any answers.
The more I thought about it the more I reasised, I don't actually care. That's a bit of a bold statement but I bet if you're honest with yourself, you don't really care either. And that's okay. In fact it's great. I have no agenda. I'm not setting out to monetise. I simply want a place to share my thoughts.
So, why write at all? Over the years I have done a lot of learning, If you'll forgive the not-so-humble brag for a moment, A lot of learning. Partly because it's been necessary but mostly because it's what I love, more than anything else. And as a result of that learning, I've found myself in a position to share that knowledge. Not because I'm some great authority but because there are people around me that want to know, that ask me questions and that like my explanations.
I'm great at speaking. I can talk for hours about technology, and I have. But where I have always fallen short is with writing about technology. Whether it's for documentation, or education, or something else I've found myself in plenty of situations where I need to write about something and I've fallen short over and over.
My biggest goal for this blog is to use it as another opportunity to learn, and to practise my writing. The vast majority of my posts will be technical. I'l be sharing something interesting I've done or learned about. I'll be documenting my side projects (for which therte are many). I'm creating a space on the internet just for me, whereI don't care about page views or monetisation. Simply where I can share.
In addition to documenting my side projects, I'll also be sharing select knowledge that I un-cover as part of my job fighting the never-ending battle against bots and helping businesses to discover the hidden impacts that come from this, as well as unlock the benefits in thwarting them. I'll occasionally share my thoughts and occasional rant on the latest trends in tech.
Let's see where this goes. I'll try to share what I can, and get better at writing. I'm also hoping it'll be a good motivator to help me continue working on my side projects. Until next time, 👋🏻.
